Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA

This past weekend I enjoyed a fine specimen of beer I picked up at Total Wine & Spirits in Tampa: Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA. My brother Ben and I split a 12 ounce bottle. I have been wanting to try this beer for quite some time, and finally found one to try. This is the motherlode of all IPAs, in my opinion.

Here's an informative and entertaining video I found on the dogfish website about this beer.

My notes: this beer drinks like a fine wine. As the video suggests, it's best enjoyed cool but not warm, and out of a wine glass or snifter. The flavor is not as harsh as I had imagined considering the level of hops, but instead it's rich, sweet, and very full of flavor. You really have to try it to see what it's like, as it's not comparable to any other beer I've had. Definitely a great beer.

Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale

I got this at Total Wine & Spirits in Tampa, FL.
Weyerbacher Brewing Company in Pennsylvania
Seasonal beer available August through November
Notes: this is a nice hoppy and more spiced version of the typical pumpkin beers that come out around this time of year. I can definitely taste the pumpkin spices, and even without the pumpkin flavor it's still a tasty beer.

2007 Ventana Due Amici

Purchased from wine.woot.com as part of their Ventana Vineyards Three - pack
Appellation: Arroyo Seco
Vineyard: Ventana 100% Estate Grown
Grapes: Tempranillo 70% Cabernet Suavignon 30%
Wine Maker: Reggie Hammond
Harvest: October 2007
Production: 500 cases
Fermentation: Open top
Barrel Aged: 14 months, French Oak
Alcohol: 14.5%
Total Acidity: .56g/100ml
pH: 3.70

Notes: Delicious wine. Has a grapey fruit-forward taste, with complex, rich flavors that come after. The tempranillo flavor is definitely prominent, but I think the cab adds some nice richness to it.
